What you'll be doing

Reporting directly to the UK Connections & Regulatory Policy Manager, the main purpose of the Senior Analyst will be to undertake day-day management of the grid connection analysts and provide grid policy oversight to support the delivery of connections applications and grid agreements. As a Senior Analyst, you will also provide support to various business areas as required to ensure the success of connections growth targets.  

The postholder will have overall responsibility for the management of commercial analysis and contractual coordination of all ScottishPower Renewables’ existing and new (all technologies) portfolio, onshore and offshore, covering projects in development, construction and operation for UK and Ireland.

Responsible for (and in many cases, management of) connection reporting and analysis to support management and for preparation and delivery of investment committee papers for approval covering a range of grid and regulatory proposals. The postholder will also be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the Grid Connections Hub to interface with the business Development and Construction Project Hubs.

What you'll bring

  • A technical, engineering, or business-related degree or equivalent relevant experience in grid connection process and arrangements, regulatory and industry governance, and generation licence obligations
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the grid regulatory framework, particularly the Connection and Use of System Code (and related codes), a sufficient relevant appreciation of the GB Grid and European Network Codes and an overall understanding of the UK and Ireland regulatory and code governance framework.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex issues & identify solutions in relation to business opportunities
  • Ability to competently process large quantities of data
  • IT Literate, you will have the ability to operate MS office systems such as Excel
  • Experience and proven ability to support and develop collaboration with internal departments including Project Delivery, Operations, O&M Services, Commercial Development, Global Energy Management, Policy, Risk & Assurance and Legal in support of grid and regulatory processes.
  • Commercial awareness and negotiation skills essential.
  • Exceptional financial / analytical skills and commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing and interfacing effectively with cross-functional internal groups of all levels and competencies.
  • Experience in performing and interpreting complex financial analysis to enable data and information to be presented to executive brief standard
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and time management skills.
