The position is within the Operations Engineering team of UK Technical Services (GTS) and reports to the UK Head of Technical Services. The Lead Project Engineer shall lead a team of engineers responsible for providing expert technical support and advice to all Iberdrola Renewables Business Units (Offshore, UK, US, Iberia & International). The individual is also responsible for managing and resolving complex technical issues and providing technical recommendations affecting the global generation fleet. 
 

What You''ll be Doing

 

This Lead Engineer shall provide the operations business with engineering expertise to optimise operation and performance of wind turbines. This will involve coordinating engineering support to assess significant asset failures and defects, manage risks and identify technical solutions, predominantly for static components of a wind turbines both on and offshore.  

 

As a team leader you will regularly report on the status of key projects and services being provided by the mechanical engineers   and coordinate multiple projects across numerous global stakeholders.  
You will support the UK Head of Technical Services in managing budget for engineering services to be provided by third parties as well as lead the coordination of technical investigations of structural component failures (Blades, Frames, Tower, etc.)  for wind turbine mechanical and structural component failures. 

 

The role will also involve:

 

  • Reviewing global OEM design modifications and providing technical advice to the international operations businesses 
  • Investigating component failures, managing Root Cause Analysis, and collaborating with O&M to manage risk and optimise performance. 
  • Leading the team’s life extension plan to advise the O&M business on asset life extension engineering requirements including inspection recommendations and service plan modifications. 
  • Review third party technical assessments and technical proposals
