Purpose


The OSW (Offshore Wind) Project Manager will be responsible for the project management functions related to the development activities and reporting of the Kitty Hawk lease area. Applicants who thrive in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively with subject and technical matter experts across many disciplines, and who can apply knowledge and expertise to facilitate the successful development of project(s) are encouraged to apply. Principal activities will include, but not limited to; procurement and contracting support, project finance reporting, survey management and logistical support. Applicants with a strong project management background working on early-stage development of large infrastructure projects would be considered as strong candidates. The role will enable the candidate to establish strong relationships with a broad and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and exert influence to secure the best outcome for the project and help deliver transformative projects.


The Project Manager position reports to the Senior Director of New Project Development. This position would be located in Virginia Beach, Virginia or Boston, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities


1. Delivery of project objectives and milestones including;
 ensuring application(s) to agencies and submitted on time and uphold the necessary project standards;
 represent the Company's position in hearings and workshops as necessary;
 coordinating with Projects team to select and managing consultants;
 providing documentation for siting, land use, and associated permits as required; and
 manage technical and permitting interface to ensure efficient project review and project flexibility.


2. Manage effective procurement processes to support subject and technical matter experts.


3. Responsible for the management, monitoring and reporting of progress against defined schedule, budget and regularly milestones.


4. Promote and document progress on achieving project commitments working closely with relevant business area.


5. Maintain a schedule of key project milestones, monitor progress and identify where shareholders should become actively involved in terms of input, review and approval.


6. Create a performance culture via an environment of accountability for performance and results; set expectations, support development and reward contributions.


7. Liaise with cross function teams to facilitate decisions and resolve escalated portfolio/project risks and issues.


8. Drive project performance to ensure quality targets are being met.


9. Development and delivery of internal project management reports to project and its partners.


10. Create and manage mechanisms to ensure that knowledge and best practice is captured and shared.


11. Oversee advancement of project bid commitments.


12. Ensure external consultants and suppliers deliver to agreed specifications, schedule and costs.


13. Meet regularly with Sr.Director, New Project Development to provide and discuss project updates and strategy.

Skills and Requirements


 Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years’ experience in large infrastructure project development or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.

 Proven experience in contract negotiation.

 Substantial domestic and periodic overseas travel required.

 Working knowledge of Windows based business software applications, including Word and Excel.

 Proficient in SAP.
