This role will support the senior management team that is developing, constructing and operating large scale offshore wind projects which will provide affordable, clean energy and will have a transformational impact on local communities. Avangrid Renewables’ offshore business is located in Boston, Massachusetts.
Purpose
The Sr. Manager, Shift VW1 Operations will support the Director of VW1 Operations to implement the agreed site operations and maintenance strategy through the management of a range of operational activity across the site ensuring that this is achieved safely, efficiently and in compliance with relevant statutory/legislative requirements and Company policies/procedures.
In addition to managing a broad range of operational activity requiring a working knowledge of a number of technical disciplines the Sr. Manager, Shift VW1 Operations will also be required to take a lead/expert role in a specific technical discipline in order to develop, maintain and improve on the activities and processes within the allocated discipline with a focus on continuous improvement and cost reduction.
Responsibilities
• Support the development and delivery of the site O&M strategy in collaboration with the other Sr. Manager, Shift VW1 Operations and the site HSE Manager under the overall direction of the Director of VW1 Operations.
• Lead the team in the cost-effective planning and delivery of all scheduled and unscheduled O&M activities, following guidelines from AGR’s Offshore Operations Engineering Team.
• Management of a multidisciplinary team consisting of Senior Manager Electrical H&S, Technicians, Windfarm Controllers, and other employees, along with project management of back office staff to ensure a coordinated approach to activities undertaken.
• Management of suppliers and contractors for balance of plant maintenance, vessel supply and other services to ensure that they meet their obligations under agreed contractual arrangements.
• Management of OEM service contracts and/or own organisation service plan for entire site ensuring that all obligations are met.
• Co-ordinate with AGRs OCC, the Offshore Operations Control Center, Port operator, local authorities, and other key stakeholders to ensure positive relationships which support the effective operation of the site operations.
• Ensure adherence to all operational standards, requirements, rules and regulations (e.g. ISO & OHSAS quality standards, Wind Turbine Safety Rules, Local Harbor etc.)
• Ensure that all KPI reporting and data requirements are fulfilled accurately and on a timely basis in order to support robust business planning and budgeting processes.
Planning and Organizing
• Ongoing monitoring of the scheduled maintenance program to ensure it is delivered as scheduled and within budget
• Manage the daily activities of a multidisciplinary team delivering the O&M activity. Ensuring that there is sufficient availability of appropriately trained staff to carry out planned and unplanned activity
• Ensure that all logistics, materials, tools and consumables processes are operating effectively on a day-to-day basis
• Support the Director of VW1 Operations by providing information and support to longer term activities e.g. OpEx budget requirements, site training plans and contract renewals.
• Ongoing manage of the various contracts in place to support the delivery of the O&M strategy
• Ensure the completion of all reporting requirements (e.g. weekly, monthly, annually)
• Prepare for and support any audit/inspections required by Company or external representatives.
Skills and Requirements
• Degree educated or significant demonstrable experience in a relevant discipline – Electrical, Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical Engineering or Logistics and Supply Chain Management
• Specialist technical knowledge of electro-mechanical generating plant or logistics and supply chain operations (as applicable to lead discipline)
• Experience in an operational management/leadership role within the offshore wind industry or an environment of equivalent scale and complexity
• Knowledge across the range of disciplines required to effectively operate an offshore windfarm
• Ability to lead and motivate a multidisciplinary team to achieve challenging targets/objectives
• Experience of effectively managing operational HSE risks in an offshore or similar high-risk working environment
• Knowledge and experience of working with High Voltage Safety Rules Experience in contract management
• High level of IT literacy including knowledge of MS Office, wind farm management software (including SCADA) and SAP
• Ability to make commercially sound decisions under pressure and to tight deadlines
• Ability to work flexibly in order to respond to immediate unplanned priorities without losing focus on longer-term plans and activities
• Ability to operate in an environment where the management of multiple stakeholders is key to success
• Experience in the development, implementation and improvement of operational procedures and processes to maximise operational efficiencies
