Job Summary

This position is responsible for the local operations and maintenance of the Rochester hydroelectric generating system. Ensure work performed is safe, efficient, and in support of defined business goals.

Major Roles and Responsibilities

1. Perform local inspection, monitoring, and operations of the Rochester hydroelectric system. Maintain operating logs and records as directed. Establish safe work areas in accordance with approved operating rules. Comply with company policies, procedures, and practices as well as regulatory requirements.

2. Respond to hydro operations requirements, emergency, and problem situations on an as-needed seven days per week, 24 hour basis. Identify and report corrective actions required to maintain safe, reliable operation of the hydro system.

3. Inspect, test, troubleshoot, maintain, repair and as assigned, modify mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control systems within the hydro facilities.

4. Develop and maintain skills and knowledge required to perform all assigned duties and responsibilities through formal, computer-based, and on-the-job training.

Job Requirements

Skills/Abilities:
•   Electrical/mechanical testing and troubleshooting experience
•   Off-hours availability
•   Results and proactive orientation
•   Lockout/Tagout rules
•   Basic computer skills

Experience/Training:
• 5 years generation plant operations/maintenance

Certifications:
• Valid Driver’s License

Required Education:
• High school diploma or GED, formal training in electrical/mechanical maintenance is desirable

Avangrid employees may be assigned a system emergency role and in the event of a system emergency, may be required to work outside of their regular schedule/job duties.
