Analyst - Gas Engineering

Purpose
Under the supervision and guidance of engineering staff, provide technical support for planning, design, operation and maintenance of the gas distribution and transmission systems. Understand and apply fundamental engineering principles, industry knowledge and regulatory standards to assist in the development of engineered solutions and recommendations to enhance the safety and reliability of the natural gas networks.
Responsibilities
Primarily work on updating, maintaining and rebuilding the gas system hydraulic models that are used to perform network analysis of the transmission and distribution systems. This includes gathering, manipulating, evaluating and working with large amounts of data; soliciting information across various company functions and groups; utilizing hydraulic software (Synergi) and software components such as Model-Builder and CMM.
Assist in performing engineering analysis of the gas distribution and transmission systems to serve existing customer loads and develop infrastructure replacements to improve system reliability and safety and meet regulatory requirements. Develop short and long-term plans to meet system requirements.
Support Regulator Station Program by maintaining and updating gate station, regulator station and primary valve records. Assist with development of engineering reports, presentations and documentation.

Technical Skills/Competencies
•General Engineering knowledge - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Analytic, modeling & Calculation, understanding the business model; Global View of the Business (Values cross-functional collaboration, understands importance of growing knowledge and developing relationships and links across the organization)
•Computer skills – Ability to learn and utilize new engineering specific software. Strong understanding of database programs (Access, Oracle, etc.).
•Engineering documentation – Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation
•Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment – Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements
Education & Experience Required:
•Associates Degree in Technical Field preferred.
•Minimum 1 - 5 years of technical experience in engineering and/or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in related work, with emphasis on fluid mechanics and modeling.
•Experience with manipulating large amounts of data and working with database programs and GIS software.
