•The Vice President, Projects will be responsible for successful engineering and construction of all approved capital and large O&M projects within the Renewables Business. 
•The focus includes supporting development of the short and long-term growth plan, maintaining engineering and quality standards for capital projects, delivering fully engineered and constructed capital projects to the operations team, and maintaining an understanding of new technology to ensure success in building a diverse portfolio of new renewable generation facilities.
•This executive will be responsible for roughly $1-2Billion in annual projects (as well as $1-$10MM+ in O&M projects) with an emphasis on Solar, Wind and Storage projects, including repower project opportunities.  Scope includes projects in all parts of the continental United States.
•This position leads a dynamic team of engineering and construction professionals to successfully deliver renewable energy projects beyond expectation with a focus on safety, quality, and cost efficiency.  


Leadership responsibilities include:
Technical development of renewable projects including managing consultants for technical studies, preparation of preliminary and detailed engineering plans, creating capital estimates for multiple renewable energy projects in response to development and origination requests
Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with contractors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers
Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to construction and balance of plant contractors, suppliers, administrative staff and employees
Construct and review budgets for the construction of new renewable facilities
Architect schedule scenarios for projects meeting the milestone obligations in power sales contracts
Synthesize complex permitting conditions and apply them to the development of project plans
Develop, maintain, and implement safety and quality control programs
Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out
Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans

Executive responsibilities:

Key member of the executive team to support development of short and long term strategic plans
Responsible for reporting project plans and status to Avangrid Renewables, Avangrid, and Iberdrola executive management and boards
Custodian of reporting on capital projects for company C-level management and operating boards
Corporate responsibility for meeting federal standards in relation to safety and environmental regulation.
Providing leadership and communication to ensure Engineering and Construction staff understands the strategic plans and has assembled programs, procedures, and implementation plans that fully support the strategic plan.
Sign off on (endorse) development plans from an engineering and construction perspective prior to board approval
Responsible for effective forecasting of company's capital budget spending on major projects.
Responsible for delivering projects per Board approved construction milestones
Ensure process feedback for identifying process efficiencies and improvements, including process and functional quality audits, and focusing on retention of "lessons learned".
Ensures all relevant internal controls are followed and develops new controls as needed.

Skills and Requirements


Must have a demonstrated ability to lead an organization of engineering and construction professionals and have had responsibility for very large capital budgets across a broad portion of the United States, with preference for candidates with experience at an Independent Power Producer. 
As part of delivering project, candidate must have experience creating and leading a culture where safety is the most important thing we do. 
 Must have proven capabilities to lead and direct establishment of long and short-term strategic objectives, development of plans to meet these objectives, and production of successful results against these plans.  
In addition to leading the engineering and construction functions, the role will require influencing internal stakeholders and other groups within the business and the corporate management to achieve success.  
Role also involves interaction with external stakeholders including city, state and federal regulators, engineering consultants, contractors, and equipment suppliers.  It will require schedule and budget management skills.

Essential Qualifications:

15+ years industry experience in construction, design, and operation and maintenance of power plants
10+ years of project management experience in large scale Engineering & Construction projects.
Experience managing an annual capital project budget of $1,000 MM
10+ years of managerial experience encompassing a Nationwide or multi-state environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or other relevant discipline – or equivalent combination of education & experience.  

Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree MBA 
Experience in Renewables. Experience as a leader in a utility or IPP
Managerial experience in a global corporations
Excellent oral, written, and presentation related communication skills.  Spanish language skills a plus.
Demonstrated commercial acumen (i.e., contractual, negotiation skills, financial discipline)
High level analytical, organizational, communication and leadership skills
Ability to coordinate, focus and direct employees in running large complex  projects, formulating project plans, securing appropriate resources and overseeing project execution
Ability to handle multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
Ability to effectively influence across organization and global boundaries
Ability to successfully plan and execute strategies for competitive procurement processes.
