Transmission Analyst

Purpose
The Transmission Analyst position within the Transmission group reports directly to the Senior Director, Transmission and works closely with the Principal -Transmission at Avangrid Renewables (AREN). Main responsibility of this position is to support the management of AREN’s approximately 3,500 MW long-term point-to-point transmission portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Transmission contract actions – track deadlines and support submission, execution and processing of point-to-point and NITS transmission service requests and agreements, renewals, deferrals, and competitions.
- OASIS actions associated with portfolio optimization –track deadlines, support OASIS actions and be a backup for OASIS actions
- Manage and track transmission conditions precedent/requirements of power purchase agreements and ensure AREN compliance
- Implement and support Principal, Transmission on specific transmission queue strategies to support AREN development pipeline and Origination – engaging in transmission planning processes at Transmission Providers with a primary focus on the bilateral WECC
- OASIS mining to determine competitive intelligence, opportunities and threats, specifically as it pertains to new renewable development and interregional transmission paths (e.g., AC and DC Interties to California)
- Manage processes to replace expiring short term transmission enabling agreements as required by AREN’s energy management teams
- Track LGIA transmission credits, transmission deposits and fees, and refunds – coordinating with Settlements, Accounting, and Control to ensure proper identification and accounting
- Enter long term deadlines such as renewals into EHS 360 system for Asset Management visibility and Audit compliance
- Special projects and strategies as directed by Senior Director, Transmission
Skills and Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in western, bi-lateral wholesale energy markets, specific 5 years of experience using OASIS platform and associated FERC/NERC/NAESB rules and requirements; transactional expertise in renewable development/origination and energy trading and marketing
- Experience with foundational FERC transmission orders and the pro forma Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT) and associated orders including large generation interconnection and standards of conduct.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s, or advanced degree in engineering, business, or related field. Specific transmission customer (i.e., buyer) experience with major western TOs a plus: Bonneville Power Administration, Portland General Electric, Puget Sound Energy, PacifiCorp, Arizona Public Service, Public Service Co. of New Mexico.
- Excellent analytical skills, commercial focus, negotiation skills.
