The IT Technical Project Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of IT Infrastructure, Operations and Communications (IOC) projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, standards, commitments and goals

As the company is placed in a highly specialized and technical environment, this position is a key component of our operational and projects ecosystem. This is a key role with AVANGRID, particularly in the light of the current IT consolidation efforts and company growth. 

Our company is looking for the most cost effective and efficient ways of operating and completing projects and the use of internal resources. It is essential that the candidate who holds this position has highly advanced knowledge of the current technical environment, project management and AVANGRID proprietary methodologies, management processes, products, work environment, and goals.  


•Lead IT IOC Projects.  Lead the development and implementation of a broad, coordinated set of projects to meet the company goals and business requirements.
•Exercise high level of authority and discretion over day-to-day activities and project operations. 
•Develop project scopes to support business strategy, align with Global objectives. Interface, report and work with upper management company stakeholders.
•Lead technical solutions implementations in coordination and aligned with local and Global IT counterparts. 
•Manage IOC budget control and administration related to projects.
•Manage procurement processes as necessary.
•Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project, defining the required resources to meet project goals (schedule, budget, equipment, and human capital), risks and contingency plans. Project budgets may vary from a few hundred thousand to $5M+ projects. 
•Coordinate complex technical solutions overcoming challenges resolution in a complex technological and multidisciplinary environment. 
•Strong technical background to understand, provide solutions and manage technical concepts. Lead technical project definitions. Ensure optimizations and efficiencies are found within the IOC team to improve work performance.
•Ensure project execution by controlling and monitoring project timeline, budget, scope, risks, and changes.
•Lead and coordinate project team and interface with national and worldwide distributed global business partners.
•Work with multidisciplinary technical teams. Projects vary from Network to Systems to End user projects.
•Identify, develop, and initiate innovations and solutions where precedents and procedures may not exist. Lead cross-functional work efforts to solve problems and implement changes.
•Perform project outcomes assessment as established during the planning phase or defined by the company standards. 
•Define frameworks for processes and procedures in accordance with company global standards and best practices to ensure consistency in projects execution.
•Proactively consult, communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders and business units to analyze information needs and functional requirements ensuring delivery of business value within proposed solutions. 
•Develop and maintain knowledge and budget control of IT IOC Projects. 
•Strategically review technical and business processes to drive continual improvement (service effectiveness and efficiency)
•Develop quality assurance policies and procedures for the managed projects, adhering to the requirements of standards as the North American Electric Reliability Corporation – Critical Infrastructure Protection (“NERC CIP”) or those of the US Federal Agency, National Institue of Standards and Technology (“NIST”)
•Work following internal company standards for Project Management in coordination with the PMO office.
•Field work might be required as part of the project manager duties. Business trips to any of the Iberdrola/AVANGRID offices and assets national and worldwide is also part of the job duties.
•This job position will work with the IOC Senior Director, IOC PMO Manager and other Managers to recommend personal actions, and direct work of the employees under the project management scope.

Skills and Requirements

•Bachelor's Degree in telecommunications/computer information systems/ business or the equivalent combination of education and experience
•7+ years working in an IT Department in any capacity 
•5+ years of IT Projects coordination experience.
•Strong technical background and understanding of network, telecommunication and systems.
•Proven experience in strategic project execution, strategic planning, risk management, and change management while engaging and influencing various stake holders at all levels across the company.  
•Proven experience managing projects and programs using PMI/PMO methodology
•Strategic orientation with excellent planning, project management, organizational skills, flexibility, and customer focus.
•Expert coordinating, managing, and working with teams living in different time zones 
•Capacity to manage cultural differences into a project team.
•NERC / CIP knowledge and / or the ability and desire to qualify for NERC Certification.  
•Experience defining requirements and rolling infrastructure out in datacenters, generation facilities and remote offices. 
•Experience deploying field services and working in the field.
•Able to travel to company offices and Generation sites and offices on demand under project premises. 
•Strong Commitment to personnel safety and IT Security.
