Program Manager-Residential Energy Efficiency


Orange, CT, US



Identifies new program expansion opportunities and measures sales against plan.Responsible for managing the full scope of various programs and projects on behalf of the Company (or across OpCos).  Responsible for the timely completion of projects and programs within budget.  Provides leadership, coordination, problem solving, planning, and status reports for projects, as well as being an active participant in day-to-day project activities requiring immediate decision-making. Ensures communication with all internal and external stakeholders, which in some cases may include the media. May represent the Company as an expert witness before regulatory bodies and in other external forums as necessary.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

1. Manages the day-to-day operations of assigned programs and vendors including performance reporting as required (40%)
2.  Identifies new business projects and program expansion opportunities.(5%,P)

2.  Acts as a liaison with outside utilities and state agencies to ensure consistent state-wide programs aligned with company strategy and regulator directives.(20%,S)
3.  Conducts all procurement activities for assigned programs to include issuing RFP’s, purchase orders, and budgeting.(20%,S)
4.  Works with marketing staff to effectively advertise assigned programs to customers and external stakeholders.(5%,P)
5.  Develops and monitors financial and sales metrics, including budgets/forecasts for capital, and operating expenses.(10%,S)

Skills and Requirements

•    Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in managing complex, technical programs or projects.
•    Master’s Degree preferred.
•    Electric & gas utility industry knowledge is preferred. 
•    Utility tariff & rate knowledge is preferred.
•    Knowledge in the areas of utility related electric & gas technologies and end use customer equipment is preferred (i.e. utility and customer lighting, HVAC equipment, distributed generation, etc.).
•    Knowledge in the areas of energy markets structures, state and federal energy law as and local regulations.




•    Results oriented with strong critical and creative thinking, decision-making and problem solving skills.
•    Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP, etc.)
•    Attention to detail with strong analytical and negotiating skills.
•    Excellent communicating and influencing skills with the ability to:
•    present complex, technical topics to internal and external audiences of various sizes and knowledge levels
•    write proposals, reports and other documents in a clear and concise manner to advance program initiatives from a business and regulatory perspective
•    read and interpret tariffs, regulatory orders, federal/local regulations and reports 
•    Strong cross functional team skills, desire to serve co-workers and provide customers with excellent service
Proven ability to work independently and at all levels of the organization
