Long Description

This role will be responsible for assisting the Non-Income Tax Director with planning, risk
mitigation, audits and ensuring effective administration of Indirect Taxes and Regulatory
reporting for our US rate regulated businesses while supporting business growth and driving
process improvement. The successful candidate will bring multistate tax technical expertise
for a variety of tax types with a particular focus on sales and use taxes. They will have a
strong accounting background and significant experience with reporting, tax research and
analysis. This is a hybrid role requiring the individual to provide tactical leadership,
coaching, and oversight to a team of co-sourced professionals operating in a variety of
geographical locations and will require some travel.
A key feature of the role will be to assist the Tax Director in partnering with business
stakeholders and ensuring the tax team’s processes improvement for indirect tax
administration align with corporate policies and objectives and are grounded in systems and
organizational understanding. The ideal candidate will be an experienced problem solver
with excellent communication and leadership skills who develops deep industry
understanding and can articulate tax concepts and requirements across the organization.
Experience with the energy industry and regulated utilities is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Function as Indirect Tax primary point of contact for Rate Case requests and other
Regulatory reporting working closely with Tax Leadership to ensure our group
delivers effective and timely responses.
 Oversee administration of tax appeals and audits for Sales, Use and Gross Receipts
taxes.
 Inspire a performance culture through demonstrating accountability for delivering
results, supporting growth, and encouraging innovation.
 Oversee Indirect Tax team execution of deliverables for the business, including
compliance, while ensuring effective training and process documentation are in place
to support effective execution and learning.
 Liaise with cross function teams across the Global Business to facilitate decisions and
support initiatives to improve internal processes.
 Support business expansion working closely with Tax Directors to vet proposed
business activities including review of tax language in procurement contracts,
research of applicable tax rules and registration requirements, and providing project
tax impacts, taxability determinations, forecasting and modeling for Sales, Use &
Gross Receipts and other miscellaneous taxes.
 Execute Indirect Tax SOX controls in accordance with corporate performance
standards.
 Research and analysis of tax laws, regulations, rulings, court cases to support
business growth, ratemaking, budgeting, legislative efforts, and risk mitigation.

Skills and Requirements

BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Finance or Tax and 10+ years’ relevant experience; or
equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA, MBA, MST a plus.
 Prior Indirect Tax management experience.
 Ability to articulate complex tax concepts to a variety of audiences and at all levels of
organization.

 Ability to foster personnel growth and effect process improvement by disseminating
business and other knowledge and feedback to team.
 Knowledge of multi-state sales & use tax, gross receipts tax or miscellaneous taxes.
 Knowledge of and experience with GAAP accounting. Interest in or experience with
IFRS or regulatory accounting, SOX control execution or ratemaking a plus.
