Lead Analyst - Insurance

Under the direction of the Director of Insurance and Risk, this position is involved in all aspects of the oversight, management, structure, design (financial and other) and negotiation of Corporate Insurance and Risk Financing Programs related to Casualty and Liability Lines of Insurance. Candidate must be able to analyze contracts (services, supply, construction, financing), contract structures, implications of related clauses.  Must have the ability to work independently, have a background in Casualty/Liability Claims and Claims Management with knowledge of claim reserve setting, valuation and impacts on financial reporting.  Candidate must process in-depth knowledge of insurance policy/contract structures, tort law and meanings and intent of insurance and legal principles. These same abilities will also carry-over to the execution of capital projects.


1.Maintains a working and current knowledge of legal, regulatory and competitive market environment influencing the price and availability of insurance and related, risk management solutions - makes recommendations to Director, Corporate Insurance and Risk
2.Review of contracts (supplies, works, services, financing, etc.) and issuance of recommendations on risks and insurance
3.Identification, analysis, quantification and monitoring of casualty risks.   
4.Identification of new and developing risk to Company and/or its operations
5.Preparation of reports and analysis with respect to all aspects of Corporate Insurance and Risk – Including Casualty/Liability Reports to Sr. Management

Program Placement and Administration

1.Responsibilities will also include leading the annual renewal of Casualty/Liability Insurance Programs (including the preparation and submittal of renewal applications and data), management of those programs and other related functions.  
2.Prepare annual submittal of renewal applications and data – management of process and coordination with Brokers
3.Interact with Brokers, Consultant and Insurance Carrier Underwriters and/or Executives.

Casualty Liability Claims Management

1.Monitors and reports on loss trends, reserve development and monthly/quarterly reports to AVANGRID Accounting with respect to open Casualty Claims
2.Coordination of internal and external teams Claim Teams including Brokerage Consultants and Adjusters
3.Coordinate with Legal regarding Claim Management Strategies, updates and coordination with External Adjusters, Legal Advisors and Experts

1.Coordinates and Participate in Loss Control Audits performed by Liability Insurers - and related activities
2.Prepare rate case forecasts and documentation  
3.Responsible for the Coordination of Capital and Business Development Projects as pertains to Insurance and Risk – from Pre-Construction to Operation

Skills and Requirements

•Candidate must demonstrate that they are professionally mature and understand importance of role 
•Must have excellent interpersonal skills, coupled with analytical competence 
•Must possess the ability to work and think independently; must also take direction and be proactive.
•Must be organized and be able to manage multiple assigned tasks/projects and complete assignments within specified deadlines.
•Communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all levels of staff and management, outside officials and agencies, and the public, expressing ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.

•Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in Casualty/Liability Insurance/Risk Management or Claims.
•Brokerage or related Experience Placing/Negotiating Insurance Program Renewals involving large complex risk exposures, insurance terms and financial structures    
•Working knowledge of PC applications and mainframe databases/systems (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, 

•Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Risk, Law or a related field 

•Must be willing to travel as position requires.
