Engineer- Energy Services C&I

Responsibilities

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

 

(P) Develop leads and build customer relationships to promote the efficient use of energy in Avangrid Service territory.
The main responsibility of the energy engineer is to develop relationships with Avangrid customers and support them in advancing the efficiency use of energy in their facilities.  This includes but is not limited to the set-up of Energy Star Portfolio Manager, development of strategic energy management plans and multi-year energy savings agreements, support reviewing technical proposals and building plans, and advocating for the customer. 

(P) Calculate and document anticipated energy savings and incentives
Calculate anticipated energy savings from proposed projects using the approved program savings document and other reasonable technical evaluation techniques.  Determine incentive amounts within program rules.  Document and track all participation progress including energy savings calculations and incentive amounts within the approved program tracking platform.

(P) Represent Avangrid to external stakeholders
The Energy Engineer will actively participate in relevant trade groups to represent Avangrid to external stakeholders.  Develop and deliver professional presentations at the request of the supervisor to trade groups, regulatory oversight bodies, and internal departments.

(S) Monitor installation of energy technologies, provide quality assurance and review operations of systems to ensure customer satisfaction

(S) Establish and maintain trade ally relationships

(S) Provide technical training to others, including customers and other internal departments.

 

Skills and Requirements

 

Education & Experience Required:

 

Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering, technical, or environmental science discipline and 5 years of related experience in commercial building construction and systems, HVAC, energy engineering, electrical controls and circuitry and energy management systems.

Certified Energy Manager or Certified Energy Auditor qualifications preferred

 

Skills/Abilities:

 

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook

Proficient in technical feasibility and scenario analysis

Strong technical writing skills

Experience developing Strategic Energy Management plans for commercial and industrial customers

Ability to travel

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The energy engineer will develop leads and build customer relationships to promote the efficient use of energy within commercial and industrial facilities in Avangrid service territory.  The energy engineer will perform technical and economic feasibility studies, calculate and document anticipated energy savings and associated incentives within the context of the approved conservation and load management plan, assist customers in the development of strategic energy management plans and represent Avangrid to external stakeholders through active participation in trade groups.
