Agile Scrum Master

This position of Scrum Master sits within the Marketing, Products & Digital department of our retail business however works across the wider Iberdrola USA organization as a co-ordination role.

We’re looking for a passionate Scrum Master to be a critical member of the project delivery organisation taking accountability for the agile/scrum ways of working within the wider business, co-ordinate the backlogs and system integrations with our third-party vendors and systems, and who can actively problem solve to provide accurate analysis and solutions in a fast-paced e-commerce environment.

The Scrum Master will ensure that the organization is well organised, co-ordinates common priorities, is disciplined, self-organised and fosters a culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement across our teams and channels.

Since we are still very much in a start-up phase, and are a small growing team, you will be joining the team at a very exciting time where we are all wearing many hats to help deliver MVP solutions to our customers that provide the maximum customer and business value across many different systems and vendors. You will be the person providing strong co-ordination between the global teams working within the organization. Think of a small start-up mindset with the support of a global organization.


•    Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption; 
•    Planning Scrum implementations within the organization; 
•    Co-ordination and prioritisation of system backlogs
•    Support and Co-ordination of systems integration tasks across the business
•    Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development; 
•    Causing change that increases the productivity of the business; 
•    Contract and financial management of budgets and 3rd Party delivery
•    Finding techniques for effective Product Backlog management across the multiple teams; 
•    Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items; 
•    Understanding product planning in an empirical environment; 
•    Ensuring the teams know how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value; 
•    Understanding and practicing agility;
•    Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed; 
•    Removing impediments; 


General Accountabilities:
•    Resolves conflict within and across Teams to ensure business objectives are delivered.
•    Ensures deliverables are of an appropriate quality and that changes are implemented effectively
•    Recognising the possibilities afforded by being part of the Iberdrola Group and capitalising on the resources available to deliver more effectively. 
•    Makes decisions that balance commercial and technical requirements, whilst achieving compliance with Group standards.
•    Management of technical, financial and project delivery risks.
•    Develops broad stakeholder relationships across UK IT, UK Business, and wider Iberdrola Group.
•    Awareness of organisational strategy at Global and local levels.

Skills and Requirements

Education & Experience Required:

•    Scrum Certification with a prior experience of delivery using agile methods across multiple SCRUM teams and technology areas.
•    Broad experience of working in product delivery teams
•    Good oral and written communication skills and a willingness to utilise internal communication channels regularly.
•    Numerate and able to deal with finances for the purposes of managing budgets or contracts with suppliers. 
•    Must be a proven team player to work, promote and consolidate efficient team working relationships.
•    Willingness to travel (occasionally).
•    Remote working will be considered.

To be successful in a role you will need to demonstrate as minimum:

•    Experience delivering across multiple teams in a multi-vendor environment.
•    Expert knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks including Scrum and Kanban, including theory, rules and practices
•    Expert knowledge of Atlassian Jira and Confluence
•    Knowledge and experience of tasks, backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, user stories and value metrics
•    Evangelist for Agile Continuous integration and Continuous Delivery methodologies
•    Prior experience of Scrum Master/Product Owner/Agile Lead/Delivery Lead role in an Agile product development team, be it software or infrastructure - diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
•    Experience of delivering Agile based projects in both an Agile and Waterfall context ensuring seamless integration of Agile delivery methods with more traditional models.
•    Experience of managing complex and cross-platform system integration vendors to ensure compliance and stability for our business deliverables.
