Responsibilities

The Senior Fabrication Manager is a Key role within the Offshore Business focusing on assisting with the delivery of OFFSHORE SUBSTATION Fabrication in Europe and overseas (USA, Mexico, Brazil ..) projects, ensuring that Avangrid Renewables Offshore position is suitably protected for GRID Package agreements.

Belonging to the Project Team and Reporting to the Offshore Fabrication & Department Manager, the Senior Fabrication Manager will be supporting the Fabrication strategies and plans, tendering, negotiating and managing offshore Fabrication contracts, planning and implementing Fabrication and expediting procedures and good practices, including Site management of Offshore Fabrication contractors and associated interfaces, ensuring quality, best practices and excellent H&SE performance. 

The position may require frequent travel to various locations in Europe, or even temporary relocations, and overseas and during development, contracting and delivery of Fabrication. 

 

•    Prepare Technical Specification for Fabrication Contracts (HV/LV Electrical sections), implementing the offshore Fabrication/ Electrical standards, procedures, tools, best practices, and quality requirements. 

•    Assisting delivery of Fabrication Contracts/ projects with a number of interfaces (Design, Main equipment, installation and other suppliers, etc.) and coordination to manage within the Offshore Wind projects.

•    Support the Fabrication Manager with the evaluation and selection of the Fabrication Contractor in the major fabrication projects. Participate in technical tender meetings, review offers from bidders and prepare the bid assessments.

•    Provide advice on Electrical Installation and testing solutions / risk levels and commercial agreements to the package, to ensure that cost effective Fabrication solutions are identified, fully evaluated and the risk profile is fully understood by the package.

•    Lead the delivery of Site Fabrication Works with a number of interfaces and coordination (Manufacturing facilities, Main Equipment Suppliers, Fabrication sites, Marine Warranty Surveyors, Load outs, Transfer of custodies, Site Logistic) under delivery including contractors, consultants and supervisors

•    Ensure the Site delivery of Fabrication works is appropriate and consistent with the specification, budget and timetable without compromising safety, following the best quality practices and observing the maximum respect for Health, Safety and Environment.

•    Assistance in the electrical integration with other project packages, especially Free Issue Equipment’s (FIE’s) packages and designers, including co-ordination, planning and all material and FIE logistics, including certifications of approval, for the Onshore fabrication phase of the Project.

•    Ensure the delivery of Fabrication works is appropriate and consistent with the specification, budget and timetable without compromising safety.

•    Work with the QHSE team to develop QHSE strategy for Fabrication works and ensure a high standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.

•    Control, manage and assist IEC/SP Engineering and Design Teams with all the Site Queries raised during the fabrication activities, liaising with the responsible key people in Head Offices and trying to minimise response time to the Contractors.

•    Manage project sites – medium scales (Manufacturing facilities, Fabrication sites, Marine Warranty Surveyors, Load outs, Transfer of custodies, Site Logistic) under delivery including contractors, consultants and supervisors.

Skills and Requirements

 

  • Degree and professional qualification in relevant engineering discipline (Master Engineer –Electrical Engineering)

 

Working knowledge and understanding of: 
•    Occupational Safety and Health Administration Requirements (OSHA)
•    Offshore Safety requirements relevant to marine operations.
•    Construction planning, Estimations, and Risk Management.
•    Pro-active and diligent approach.
•    Management of multidisciplinary teams spread across multiple locations in a matrix organization.
•    Highly developed communication (written and verbal) particularly related to multicultural relationships and ability to present effectively to management teams.
•    Assist with documenting decisions (whether internal or external diligence).

•    Advanced user of Microsoft office applications.

•    Manage site hand over from Fabrication delivery to Installation, Commissioning or O&M.

•    Support with the QHSE team to develop QHSE strategy for Fabrication works and ensure a high standard of health and safety awareness is maintained.

•    Day to day management decisions relating to site works to avoid delays, disruption or claims whilst ensuring safety, technical and financial compliance. Take necessary actions to minimise claims/ variations from contractors.

•    The individual should be prepared to manage teams working at different project locations.
